Welcome to the Nevada Civic Light Opera Website

Nevada Civic Light Opera was formed by Lev and Susane Tagayev, the founders of Tahoe Arts: Professional Theatre in Residence, in 2004.

Its first production was Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music starring Saundra Chaon in October at the Carson City Community Center and in November at Caesars Tahoe.

In 2005 they produced several fundraising projects with the Carson City Community Center, but the highlight of the season was the sold-out sensation, Phantom of the Opera in Concert which starred Mark D. Williams as the Phantom, Emily Beck Hammer as Christine, and Joshua Jessup as Raoul.

This concert featured all of the greatest hits from the well-loved Andrew Lloyd Webber musical and premiered at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City on October 21, 2005.

In 2006 they produced Head Chefs, Divas, and Desserts, Showboat in Concert, as well as the Broadway smash musical, Jekyll and Hyde, which featured Mark D. Williams, Saundra Chaon, and Joy Strotz.

For the 2007 season Ol' Blue Eyes Was Back during May with the Songs of Sinatra starring Frank Carabetta. In October NVCLO was delighted to bring you Meredith Willson's The Music Man starring Fred Steinke and Saundra Chaon.

In 2008 NVCLO presented A Tribute to Broadway. Showcasing some of the best talent in the area, the audience was indeed "razzle-dazzled."

This fall we are presenting two events. The first is Delicious Divas of Song on Nov 27th and 28th. The 7:30 dinner show is $40.
Four great women of song share fun and laughter through friendship, relationships and a show! These talented songbirds are well known around the Tahoe-Reno area: Saundra Chaon from Truckee, Joy Michiel from Incline Village, Cindy Sabatini from Reno, and Susane Tagayev from Carson City.

The second is Brava! An Evening of Arias on Dec 12th. Dinner is at 6:30 and the concert at 7:30. Tickets are $45. This event features incredible mezzo-soprano Olivia Hakel who has thrilled people with her beautiful voice at the Nevada Opera and Reno Baroque Ensemble. Pianist Donna Axton and the Silver Strings will accompany Ms. Hakel. Tickets go on sale Oct 20th and can be purchased through the Sawtooth Ridge Cafe, 530-583-2880, or at Tahoe Arts, 775-887-5601.
